Canadian Model Forests - Resources North Association

The Resources North Association, encompassing 7.7 million hectares of land in the north central interior of British Columbia, is located in the heartland of Canada’s softwood lumber producing region. The Resources North Association encompasses the city of Prince George and extends from the northern reaches of the Caribou region to the northern limits of the Fraser River drainage basin. The forest is divided into three distinct regions: boreal, montane and sub-alpine. The Association' recent project areas include climate change, forest health, implementation of the National Forest Strategy, development of criteria and indicators with Russia’s Gassinski Model Forest and urban forest management planning. Resources North Association currently sponsors the Yukon Project, which is examining issues of local concern in collaboration with the Government of Yukon and the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations. The Resources North Association also served as the sponsor for the Vancouver Island Non-Timber Forest Products Project, a special project area previously funded by the CMFN.

August 3, 2006 - Creating a Balance

Creating a Balance is a product of the Integrated Resource Management Group. It was produced by the McGregor Model Forest to provide backgrounds of the various natural resource sector groups in British Columbia.
