June 5, 2008 - J. Michael Waldram Memorial Model Forest Fellowship

The Canadian Model Forest Network is pleased to announce the establishment of the J. Michael Waldram Memorial Model Forest Fellowship.  The Fellowship, valued at up to $1,000, will be open to Canadian Aboriginal youth enrolled in either a degree or diploma program in natural resource management at an accredited Canadian university or college....

January 8, 2008 - Canadian Model Forests Contribute to Envirothon

Envirothon are Olympic style competitions designed for high school students to educate them about the natural environment. Through this program, students evolve from simple environmental awareness to active stewardship. Intended to encourage high school students to become interested in environmental issues, the concept quickly grew in popularity and by 1988 the first official competition was held. Since its creation, the concept hasn’t changed drastically; it is still a hands-on outdoor competition designed to challenge and test each student’s knowledge of soils, aquatic ecology, forestry, wildlife, and current environmental issues....

August 30, 2007 - CUSO Volunteer Prepares for Trip to Central America

On July 9th, 2007, a CUSO cooperant and a CUSO employee visited the International Model Forest Network Secretariat (IMFNS), Canadian Model Forest Network Secretariat (CMFNS), and the Eastern Ontario Model Forest (EOMF) as part of preparations for a placement abroad with Model Forests. This session was the first of its kind and was created in order to provide cooperants with information on the IMFN and CMFN as well as contacts they can use during their term abroad.
