Home > About Model Forests > About the Network About the Network
The Canadian Model Forest Network (CMFN) includes Canada’s 14 Model Forests. But these numbers do not tell the whole story. The Network also brings together hundreds of partners that are involved with one or more Model Forests across the country. These partners include, for example, private citizens, forest companies, parks, Aboriginal communities, provincial governments and universities. One of the Network’s key partner organizations, Natural Resources Canada – Canadian Forest Service, provides primary funding for the CMFN through the Forest Communities Program (FCP). Additional support for each Model Forest comes from within its partnership. These partners contribute funding and/or expertise, and are the driving force in the success of every Model Forest. Beyond strengthening alliances between Model Forests, the CMFN works to raise the profile of Model Forests in Canada, supports national initiatives that address topics relevant to all Model Forests and develops publications that enhance both of these activities. The CMFN also work as a liaison between Canada’s Model Forests and the International Model Forest Network. |
